FRYIN' ALIVE

AH HA, AH HA, FRYIN' ALIVE, FRYIN' ALIVE! ,
UH HU, UH HU, GARDEN'S BARELY STAYING ALIVE. ( To the music of Saturday Night Fever)

We are breaking more records today, 73 days over 100. The previous record was set yesterday! Looks like we will also at least match the previous record high set in September 2000. That was 112. Already the temperature is 111 and it is only 4:40pm. The hottest part of our day is yet to come. Everything is still, out there. No birds, butterflies or bees.

They tell us relief is in sight towards the end of the week with temperatures in the low 90s.

  1. Yes isn't it amazing how the birds stop singing when it's hot and horrid. You're so right about not seeing many birds, butterflies or bees around during such hot times. Of course, even when it's stinking hot here the *** cicadas never stop singing ... day or night. It's the only time they do sing and it's deafening!

  2. I'm sorry about where the needle is pointing, but that's a beautiful thermometer. We hit 108 today and 109 yesterday. What's remarkable about this is the high humidity level temperatures must overcome to get even past 100 here along the coast. Good news...they have us at 90 by next weekend with rain!!! It will feel like Canada to all of us. And if it gets down to 80 we might inadvertantly reach for a jacket.
    (Probably not) Hang on!

  5. Crazy from the heat...looks like Phoenix came to you, sans saguaros. Though I may speak too soon - the Austin zone pushers will surely try those, now!

Hang in there - the mega high pressure has to break down and let some "cool" back in.

  6. That is a beautiful thermometer.
Mr P likes gadgets, so we have two digital thermometers here. Both hit 112 yesterday. It's getting depressing.
But, hope they're right and we have those 90 degree days soon. Break out the sweaters...
    Stay cool...

  8. I linked a different song to my blog to describe the heat:

However, I don't think the ladies in the video would be dancing around in our heat today. :-) Laura
