Wanda Lancaster has added her magic touch to thousands of arrangements, over the years. Although now in her 80s she comes to the Wildflower center every week along with Anne Linville. Several other ladies including Carol Cole, Carol Curry and Kimberley Tortorice also help design the floral arrangements.
I was totally wowed this morning by the large buckets filled with all kinds of Texas native flowers. There was horsemint, basket flowers, hesperaloe, yucca, basket grass and rudbeckias. I was wishing I had my camera along with me. By the time I came back from giving my tour most were already in vases and out on display.

I came home and went straight outside to pick my own native Texas beauties.

It's amazing what even a tiny vase of garden-picked flowers will do for a room. I'd do this more but my cats can't stop nibbling or knocking vases over. Grrr.
Those are gorgeous. I never thought of using the Horsemint. It's so plentiful this year and looks great in those arrangements.
Those are beautiful. I think I'll go bring some in for a bouquet.

My absolute favorite arrangements are wildflowers in simple vases. Sometimes even a single wildflower in a small, antique bottle will make the day happier. I've GOT to get some purple horsemint into my garden.

I had never thought of it either until I saw them at the WFC. They are long lived in a vase.
I agree David. I often decorate the dinner table with 3 small straight sided bud vases with one flower in each.
