No, no no , not these ones, but the other kinds of pups that grow in the ground. I've had an experience with the former as they tore around my garden on the scent of some critter.
I was taking the dogs for their morning walk in the neighborhood and stopped to talk to the gardener who was trimming the trees on the boulevard. As the subject of agaves came up and I told him how I had bought an agave at the DBG last time I visited , he said "why don't you take some of these pups " He was only going to pull them out. So, they are now back in Texas and potted up. Have no idea what they are but they will stay in pots for the winter.
Your JRTs have that scary "let's go get 'em" look that I know so well. lol Are yours the crazy-energetic kind or the more sane kind? :) They're definitely the cute kind!

ReplyDeleteSweet Bay- They are cute dogs but not very well garden trained. They are my sons.

ReplyDeleteI'm laughing about the other comments, regarding you with these plants on a plane...reminded me of my first trip to Texas, when I went to the Antique Rose Emporium (a side trip - I was visiting College Station and Austin) and I brought a crazy thorny rose (Silver Moon) home on the plane (it sat on my lap - fortunately they didn't tell me to put it under the seat - I don't think it would have fit...). Good luck with the new pups - and cute other pups too!
ReplyDeleteiris- Eli and Chance are sweet dogs and I get my dog fix in Arizona. I love to take them for walks around the neighborhood and check what is growing out there.
ReplyDeletePam- Are gardeners crazy, or what? I took an agave home last time and I clipped off the tips because I was afraid they would consider it a weapon on the plane.
I like both kinds of pups, but you're right -- one kind is far less destructive than the other. I'm slowly beginning my agave collection. I feel like a beginning swimmer looking at the deep end of the pool -- am I really ready for this next step, agaves?

ReplyDeleteWe have, however, gotten the other kind of pup this last week. Not JRT, a mini schnauzer. She's cute, but a handful. Much more work than agave pups.
I'll admit, you got my attention with this one! I was so happy for new pups. . .I'm still happy, even if they're the kind that doesn't bark.
