WHO'S BEEN EATING MY DINNER?

  1. How frustrating. But your vegetables are gorgeous!

  2. Ugh! I stopped growing tomatoes when I lived in Austin because the squirrels ate most of them! But I'm guessing you don't have too many of those around your area. Deer? Raccoons?

  3. Birds will also do that kind of damage to tomatoes. I put out plastic tomatoes when I stake the vines. The birds "taste" the plastic, find it not to their liking, and then leave the real fruit alone when it comes along.

  4. Iris- They were tasty too
Jean and Morning Glories- I think it must have been a bird because they are contained within a wire cage and a squirrel couldn't get in there- or maybe a cotton rat, bit haven't seen any this year.

  5. Jenny,

What's the grayish ball looking thing by the green squash?

  6. Katina-Funny. It's a reflection of the light above in the countertop!

  7. Gardening can be so frustrating. I've been picking off squash vine borer eggs for days now. And, then this morning, I found a tomato worm.

    But, we'll keep on trying.

    Have a great weekend.

  8. Patchwork- I may have saved my squash from 50 0r more borers but there is always the one that got away. I found small piles of frass this morning but I got a wire and wormed it round hoping to squash the devil.

  10. Julie- I usually hollow out the flesh, chop it up, cook with onions garlic peppers- whatever I have . Add some ham parmesan cheese, stuff it and bake. You could stuff it with just about anything. It really makes a nice change from just sauteing with garlic. Can also make soup if you just have more than you can deal with.
