WHERE WAS MY CAMERA?

It's been a pretty exciting week but I don't have a record of it.

Yes, I have photos of the garden but I don't have any photos of the visitors who came to my garden this week...at least not of them in my garden.

What was I thinking, not to have my camera out and be following them around. Who were they? They were Steve Bender writer, and Ralph Anderson photographer, for Southern Living magazine. They arrived on Monday, previewed the garden for the best time to shoot and came back very early Tuesday morning before sun-up and again in the evening, to film as the light was fading from the garden. I feel so honored that they deemed my garden worthy of a place in their magazine.

I was thinking a little more clearly by evening when we went to dinner at Fonda San Miguel. Here is Ralph, alongside Lucinda Hutson, sampling some of their wonderful appetizers. Lucinda has also been featured in Southern Living. She hosted before dinner at her delightful cottage. You can read all about it on Pam Penick's blog Digging.

And Steve, aka Grumpy Gardener, wearing of all colors burnt orange. How appropriate for a town that bleeds burnt orange!
Then just to make my day an absolutely over the top day I had an email from Horticulture Magazine to say my blog had been chosen as a best blog for 2011. I can now sport the badge in my side bar. The article, written by Jennifer Koester, can be seen here.
Better get out there and tell the garden how much I love it.

  5. Jenny...how exciting, but so absolutely appropriate, that you garden and your blog...and, you...should be honored.

    Congrats on both.

You and your garden are inspiration for us in this area. I have learned so much from your blog.

  11. Congratulations!

It's hard to photograph *everything* that happens in the garden, so don't beat yourself up over missing a few details. =)

  13. It's funny how the blogosphere can sometimes send you around a convoluted path, until you wind up just where you were meant to be. Yesterday Pam's blog Digging showed a group of people at Lucinda's house (Lucinda's garden has been one of my favorites for years - I have a thing for color!) and today a facebook friend showed pictures of the very same group at Fonda San Miguel (another place I adore - all that color!). I think it was all meant to lead me here, for I too am a traveler, who gardens on a rocky slope in Central Texas. So happy to have found you and your blogs!

  16. Congratulations, Jenny! I'm sure the article & photos will be wonderful - although I don't think even the best photos or videos could quite capture how wonderful your garden is in real life ;-]

  17. Congrats, congrats, congrats! You deserve it, Jenny. Your garden continues to be an inspiration to me. But even more important, you've become a friend. Thanks for talking with me on that garden tour several years ago, where we first met.
