WARM DAYS BRING ON THE BLOOMS
Usually the first blooms of the season are the windflowers, Anemone berlandieri, and sure enough today I spotted the first blooms.
The recent warm days have brought on a flurry of spring blooms.
Clusters of daffodils.
Violets
Grape hyacinths, Muscari
Gopher plant, Euphorbia rigida. Spring is on the way. Hurrah!

I keep seeing luxuriant gopher plants everywhere these days, with the exception of in my own garden spaces. I wish they were native to our area as I'm trying to use what already grows around here to populate my beds. That said, it looks as though the combination of deer resistance with early blooms tol benefit local pollinators when few natives are open for business yet might convince me to make an exception.

Lovely early blooms. I especially like the anemone. I'll have iris blooms within the week-looking forward to that.

ReplyDeleteI swear, next year I'm going to plant those darling anemones. I finally got a gopher plant (for a pot) but will probably await its blooms next year.

ReplyDeleteAaaah, a breath of spring! It will still be several more weeks of winter here in Boston, though I planted the earliest blooming bulbs I could get my hands on!
