This was my number one pick. It was taken in October on a day when Gardeners' Supply came out to film their catalogue. They were looking for a non regional look and all my narrow leaf zinnias created the perfect setting for their bench. No they didn't leave it behind!
You can tell it is spring in this photo because of the ever present pink primroses, Oenothera, and all the poppies. Look at that clear blue sky, reflected in the pool and a far cry from the current miserable 38° The photo was taken in April..... just around the corner.
This is an August photo of the front courtyard. Bluebonnets and other spring flowers are long gone and grasses and cactus are on show. I'll bet the temperature was in the 90s on this day. We almost had that temperature here this past week.
As I look at all this color and greenery it is hard to imagine that it might be like that again this year. Now I must go out into the garden and cover a few tender plants because we are predicted a low of 24° and there is a lot of tender new growth out there. I do hope it doesn't get that cold.
It looks so beautiful (and warm!). I see why the first photo is your favorite, but they're all lovely. It's nice to see three shots at three differing times of year. I bet those plants are all shivering now!

ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen a bad photo of your garden but these are certainly wonderful. I hope the predictions of cold turn out to be overstated - spring has to settle in and formally evict old man winter some time soon.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and interesting profiles of several of our most lovely times in the gardens. Maybe we should all do this as an aid to planning for year round displays. True enough that August sun is scorching, but those plants that survive the summer are beautiful in their own way.
ReplyDeleteOoof - I am reading this on the other side of our startling cold area wide lows of 24 degrees. I covered a lot of plants but many more starts hopefully were able to fend for themselves with the smattering of rain yesterday. I can't wait until our Spring weather agrees to stay above the freezing mark!

ReplyDeleteDarn, it was cold last night!!! The plants in my garden are definitely looking the worse for wear, but it's nice to look at your pics and remember the warmer days ahead.
