I love your pottery fountain. And how wonderful you are getting rain even though it's a lot according to what I read over at Digging. It is always such a shock to me to see our July and August flowers blooming in your gardens in Spring. But it gets me excited for my daylilies.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of the Confederate Jasmine by the pool.
Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

I have never seen a pomegranate bloom before -- thanks! I was about to say "I can't believe your Verbena bonariensis is blooming already", but the one plant I have along the south side of the house overwintered and is pretty close to blooming already -- a first for me here as it's usually seedlings that I have to wait for. :)
ReplyDeleteIf at any time Chocolate daisy becomes a pest for you with too many volunteers, send them my way! I have such a hard time growing this plant from seed, but I want it in my garden again!
We have many plants in common. I didn't think to show Confederate Jasmine, Pomegranate (mine is an ornamental with white stripes) or Coreopsis. I intend to make a later post comparing ditch lilies with early hybrids that followed. I don't have Chocolate daisies and my Scutellaria died the first year.
ReplyDeleteIt's shaping up to be a lovely May in your gardens, Jenny. My verbena didn't come back this year from the roots but I think there are some little seedlings trying to give it a go. I hope they make it, I love that plant!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful beautiful blooms.
ReplyDeleteI particularly like the wine cups and verbena--both of which I have had great difficulty in getting established in my garden. But--I keep trying--they are so pretty!
I'm glad to see that your garden is overcoming that horrible hailstorm you had not long ago, Jenny. I was surprised to see your Coreopsis blooming already. I planted rain lilies for the first time in my own garden this year but it appears that our rain may have arrived too late to deliver any flowers - still, all rain is welcome!
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks lovely. Lots more blooming there, than here. And, we're not that far apart.
ReplyDeleteWe need a little sun, to go with this rain.
I so enjoyed looking at all your lovely blooms. The Pomegranate flower is a new one for me, but then I don't see Pomegranate trees around here. I adore that Chocolate Daisy and the Jasmine draped over that huge pot looks fantastic. How I wish we were getting rain! We've had a failed wet season and so our dry season has already begun and there's months of it ahead of us now.
ReplyDeleteThat's some serious wet weather there. The jasmine is amazing, I should take some pics of a bank of that jasmine and a pomegranate near me...at one point, you could barely see the foliage. My window was down driving by, of course!
ReplyDeleteAll gorgeous, but I'm particularly smitten with the yellow hue of that rain lily. Mine mostly bloom white. I've been trying to redistribute them via sprinkling the seeds out into new areas. I'm never sure if that works very well, but it makes me feel like I'm "participating". My ditch lilies aren't blooming yet but I've noticed you often get blooms on your lilies a couple of weeks before mine show up. I'll keep a closer eye on mine now that I've seen how lovely yours are looking. A little sun wouldn't hurt at this point though I can barely believe I'm writing that.
ReplyDeleteI'll throw in with others - that vignette by the pool is captivating. I can almost smell the jasmine from here...
Love the jasmine falling over the fountain! That must smell divine. And your daylilies are inspiring to move mine out of their part shade spot into somewhere more sunny where they'll actually bloom.
ReplyDeleteI like your adjacent contrast between the orange daylily, being the commoner 'ditch-digger', and the other, being the well-bred high-society.

I adore pomegranate blossoms... And I have never seen a yellow rainlily like that!
ReplyDeleteI am loving all the blooms- everything looks so pretty. Beautiful fountain! Happy GBBD!
