GARDEN BLOGGERS' BLOOM DAY JUNE 2013

Bloom day again! Thanks Carol at Maydreams for hosting the day.

I have to give my Spanish bayonet yucca, Yucca aloifolia,  an opportunity to star in June's bloom day. Not quite in full bloom yet but by next month blooming will be over and it has waited 12 years for the chance. Maybe this will be an annual event from now on. The difficulty will be cutting back the stalk after it has finished. It must be 10' up.
Recent rains have been kind to my Texas garden. here is what is blooming today.
Colorado water lily

Texas mud baby, Echinodorius cordifloius

Anisacanthus
Trailing purslane

Peter's purple bee balm, Monarda fistulosa.

Dittany of Crete,Oreganum dictamus.

Dwarf papyrus, Cyperus haspens

Blanket flowers, Gaillardia pulchella.

Purple cone flower, Echinacea purpurea.
Hope your garden is having a wonderful June Bloom day.

  1. Three cheers for the star, that fabulous Spanish Bayonet Yucca. It will look wonderful when it opens fully. Worth the wait.

You have gorgeous blooms to show off once again. The Water Lily caught my eye this time. Simply beautiful.

  2. Amazing to see a place rain-effected! Here, everything is long finished, at least until our monsoon season might show up? The blanket flowers and cone flowers are so vibrant that you have.

  4. Gorgeous color story going on at your place. I especially love the ground eye view of the trailing purslane. It looks like an entirely different plant from that angle - nice capture! There are a couple of cycads blooming in our neighborhood at the moment and while not so pretty as yucca flowers, those impressive displays make it well worth the long wait. They certainly catch the passerby's eye!

  6. I've always loved Monarda. I tried different kinds several times in our garden years ago, but they just won't do well here, too much shadow and too wet I suspect. So glad to see them here on your blog now.
