THE ULTIMATE DRY CREEK LANDSCAPE

With thoughts of dry creeks and xeriscape gardening on my mind, let me take you on a trip to the real desert. In January, two years ago, on our way back from California we stopped in at a campsite in Palm Springs for two days. Trust me to hunt out some gardens for us to visit.

This one, at the Palm Desert Visitor Center is one of the most gorgeous desert landscapes I have ever seen. The gardens are a memorial to the landscape design work of Eric Johnson (1913-1999) Recognized as one of the foremost landscape designers in the southwest, he was a pioneer in developing and creating visibly lush and colorful landscapes using drought tolerant plants. Please enjoy this beautiful January day in the desert.
