I always had crocus in the garden when I lived in the north but I wasn't sure how crocus would perform in my central Texas garden. The unusually cold winter may be just what they were looking for. It was a bright spot in a morning of grunt work.

FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING
After days of rain and cold, today the sun finally broke through the clouds. I spent the morning outside cutting back and yanking out. Then, I spotted this bright little crocus blooming in the sunken garden.
Crocus 'snow bunting' was one a selection of white bulbs I received from the International Flower Bulb Center, my prize for the Abundant harvest photo I entered in the Gardening Gone Wild competition, Picture this Photo. Be sure to check out the subject for this month's competition.
