I GOT THE JOB DONE
Rose pruning day ( Feb 14th) came and went without my bringing out the pruning shears. Yesterday and today, despite the rain I was going to do the job, and I did. Painful as it was to cut off this unusual, lush winter growth on my Knockout roses it had to be done. One benefit was a spray of red roses and a little sprig of dried statice. Valentine's Day came a little late.

What pretty roses. Will you come prune mine?!
ReplyDeleteNice job! The roses are in hibernation right now.......but soon....very soon:)
ReplyDeletePretty! It was sooo hard to cut off the buds. I didn't have any blooms yet but lots of buds ;/ You must have been dodging raindrops...my gauge is showing just over 3" for Friday and Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI keep going out with the shears and the buds say, "ohhh noooo", and I walk away. It hurts my heart. Would I be sorry to skip this year? I don't know; I never have before ...
ReplyDeleteLike you, I have roses all over the house because of the blooms that are on the rose shrubs this year. It's hard to prune them, but prune them we must!
ReplyDeleteI think I will get out and prune my roses today. I'm late this year due to the weather, but I can see from my kitchen window that my rose bushes have grown huge. They are blooming already and cutting off those flowers and buds will be painful, but I agree, it has be done.
ReplyDeleteRoses already...wow! That sounds very early, even there. But I guess soon it will be time here, too. Nice fringe benefit of pruning...
ReplyDeleteIncredible. Such a pretty bouquet. I wish I had better luck with roses. They don't like me........
ReplyDelete:(
Those recent rains were such a blessing! I really hope this trend will continue, cuz we all know how much we need it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your rose!
Thanks!
How wonderful to have roses or any flower blooming right now...it's winter here.

Well totally off topic from this post I did go check on the Agarita and low and behold there were flowers! Thanks for showing those off. Your roses are beautiful- I always hate to cut them but when I have them in a vase I am always so happy I did.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Thanks for the reminder. I only have one rose, a little Valentine bush hidden from the deer behind some rosemary. Would LOVE to have big bold bushes. Thanks for posting your flowers.
