I saw someone wearing one at bridge today and meant to get over and ask her if she was from England. They used to sell them on the streets in the UK and everyone wore a poppy days before the 11th. They still do. Last year we went to the D day beaches and cemeteries shortly after the 11th. There were poppies everywhere. http://janddscruises.blogspot.com/2010/01/transatlantic-bound.html
I remember, as a child, buying paper poppies from veterans to wear in our lapels for Veteran's Day. I wonder why we don't do that anymore?
